The Area

Denton, Texas is a unique, fun and historic city just minutes away from The Preserve. With a population of about 120,000, downtown Denton surrounds The Courthouse Square Historic District and is filled with distinctive shops and restaurants, some of which have been in operation for over 70 years. In addition to charming and lively downtown area, Denton is also widely known throughout the region for its independent music scene. Originally popular for its Jazz music, the music scene has expanded to include various genres of music. Similar to Austin, Texas in its support of live music, Denton hosts its own music festivals to showcase local and regional artists as well as introduce audiences to up-and-coming musicians.

ADVANCED EDUCATION

The music scene in Denton has grown and developed largely because of the innovative College of Music at the University of North Texas (UNT). UNT and Texas Woman’s University (TWU) are both centrally located in Denton and provide area residents with a wealth of educational programming, arts performances and sports entertainment. UNT and TWU offer NCAA Athletics including the Division I UNT Mean Green football team which will open its brand new, state-of-the-art football stadium this year.

TRANSPORTATION

Denton is easily accessible to all parts of Dallas-Fort Worth due to its location at the point of the “Golden Triangle of North Texas” where I-35 splits into I-35E and I-35W. A network of highways provides quick access to all points north, south, east or west.

The Denton County Transit Authority (DCTA) offers recently updated public transportation for all Denton residents via express coach service, allowing quick access to downtown Dallas and the nearby Lewisville area. The A-Train opened in June of 2011 as a commuter train that conveniently connects Denton to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system, Dallas’ system of public transportation. Additionally, Denton operates a bus service within the city and university shuttles for area college students to ensure Denton residents ease of navigation throughout the city.

New homes in Denton, TX at The Preserve at Pecan Creek are conveniently located 21 miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the City of Denton also has its own public Denton Municipal Airport which serves cargo and charter flights and houses two flight schools.

MEDICAL

There are two major hospitals serving the people of Denton. Denton Regional Medical Center is a Level III Trauma Center, located southeast of downtown Denton and three miles north of The Preserve at Pecan Creek. Denton Regional has undergone huge expansions over the past ten years in order to accommodate new, state-of-the-art progressive care, neuroscience, radiation oncology units and an endovascular lab. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, formerly Denton Community Hospital is seven miles north of The Preserve at Pecan Creek, and is known for its Women’s Center.
